Lattice Disc butterfly valves are particularly suitable for high operating head and low head loss applications. For high velocity application head loss can be considerable and downstream flow pattern can affect performance as in case of Turbine Inlet Valve.
The disc construction comprises of a single disc supported by an angled ribbed frame structure with members proportioned and profiled to give uniform loading and head loss.
The through flow construction allows water to flow both through and around the disc. The Lattice Disc design provides high strength without the consequent blockage associated with solid discs for high pressures. These valves are remarkable for their low head loss characteristics which are valuable in hydraulic turbine installations or in inlet of large pumps, where flow disturbance causes loss in efficiency.
Valve disc construction can be cast or combination of cast and fabrication.
